A Shottle Hall Real Wedding by Elena

Written by James Davis | June 25, 2018

We always love it when our bride and grooms share their real weddings with us here at Shottle Hall.

This one today is a bit of blast from the past back to the 3rd of June 2016 and has been shared by the lovely Elena from http://elenstudiophotography.com

The wedding of Rebecca and Dan was a stunning summer wedding with lots of style and glamour and we think you will agree "What a sky"

😍

How did you two meet?

A night out with mutual friends. We started talking and felt we had a real connection. Dan then asked me if I wanted to go out on a date, and the rest is history.

How did he pop the question?

Dan took me to the peak district and booked out a cottage for my birthday. He proposed that night next to an open log fire.

What was your favourite moment(s) from the wedding?

Our favourite moments were when I was walking down the aisle and the moment the registrar pronounced us husband and wife.

How long have you been together?

4 years

How would you describe your overall wedding experience?

Amazing. We both felt so relaxed and happy on the day. We loved every single moment of it. We were so overwhelmed at how many people turned out to celebrate our day with us. Everything seemed to fall into place perfectly and it was definitely the best day of our lives so far.

What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding?

Don’t worry too much about what you can’t control on the wedding day, e.g. weather etc. focus on what the day is all about - each other.

Tell me about your dress. Where did you find it, how did you choose it, how did you know it was the one?

My friend recommended the bridal suite so I looked online before booking an appointment to see them. I immediately fell in love with the picture of my dress and when I tried it on I felt like a princess. It was the dress I always imagined myself wearing on my wedding day so I had to have it.

How was your experience working with Elena Studio Photography on your wedding day?

Fantastic. You both made us feel so relaxed. We really enjoyed working with you.

Any tips that you have about preparing your wedding party for the photos? What did you tell them, how did you get them to cooperate, what did you do or what would you have done differently?

I made them all aware that they would be having photos with us and which stage of the day this was likely to be. This meant that when the time came they were ready.

We love to hear about your other wedding suppliers

We loved The Greenery and Iced & Spliced by Cakey Wakey.

We found both these suppliers at the Shottle Hall Wedding Fair.

The Greenery did our flowers for us. They were beautiful and exactly what we had discussed. They kept in regular contact in the run up to the wedding and I was so impressed with their work on the day. Cakey wakey did our decoration. They too did a fantastic job. They set everything up just as we had discussed and everything looked amazing on the day. I would definitely recommend both,

What’s one piece of advice you would give to other couples for planning their wedding?

Leave yourself plenty of time to plan and make sure you enjoy every moment of the wedding day as it goes so quickly.

Did you had an engagement session? If so, please, describe your experience? Would you recommend to have an engagement photo shoot to other couples?

we really enjoyed our engagement photo shoot and I would definitely recommend having one. It gave us a real chance to get to know Elena so much more and therefore feel much more relaxed on the day. It also gave us an idea of what kind of shots we preferred in preparation for the wedding day.

What kind of food was served at your reception?

we had an outdoor BBQ

What was the first song you danced to as husband and wife?

Goo goo dolls - IRIS
