Leanne & Dan married here at Shottle Hall on the 12th of July 2019 and in their own words it was the most amazing day!

Where & when did you first meet?

On a Halloween night out in Derby in Popworld – Both in fancy dress!

Tell us about the proposal. How long were you engaged?

Exactly one year from meeting we were going to go on a night out and dress up again, but I’d already booked a meal at Morley Hayes and had make out I didn’t fancy a night out. I pretended to make a booking the day before. The restaurant was very quiet, and I did it at the end of the meal. We were engaged for just over 8 months.

Why was Shottle Hall the perfect venue for your big day?

A combination of lovely setting and views, good location, the size and space of the venue compared to others we visited, the bedrooms being included in the price and good value for the whole day.

Civil Ceremony

Please tell us a little bit about…

Your Ceremony

The ceremony was at 1pm and finished at around 1:30pm. Photos straight after until around 3pm followed by speeches and wedding breakfast.

The dress

The dress was from Alison Louise Bridal in Belper, it was A line, made of lace and organza and had beaded detail all over it, with a cathedral length train.

Centrepieces, did you do your own or use a venue dresser?

We used Blue Horseshoe weddings from Chesterfield who provided an aisle carpet, an arch, chair covers and pew ends, post box, bay trees and table decorations and centre pieces.

Who was your photographer?

Matt at Field Photographic. We were very happy with the service and the friendliness and enthusiasm Matt provided.

Did you have chair covers or any other decorations?

Chair covers and pew ends were provided by the venue dressing company

Who made your Wedding Cake? What flavour did you have?

We bought separately from M&S with a traditional iced sponge cake, hired a cake stand and decorated with a topper and sugar roses.

Who was your florist and what flowers did you choose?

We used Passion Flowers in Littleover. We had a lilac, mauve and silver theme and mixed roses with lizzies. The cascading bridal bouquet in particular was beautiful and was commented on all day.

Top Table

What entertainment did you have throughout the day & night?

We used Carlo at Derbyshire Wedding Events as a DJ and he also videoed the ceremony and we were very pleased with the services provided.

What made your day extra special?

The Shottle Hall staff worked hard to make our day run smoothly, all the suppliers did a great job and on the day nothing went wrong. Being together and seeing all of our friends and family laughing and smiling all day made it perfect.

What were the most memorable moments?

Seeing my bride for the first time in her dress, the speeches (nerve wracking) and first dance.

Would you do anything differently?

Other than marrying her sooner if possible, no.

Sum up your day in one sentence

We had the most amazing day at the perfect venue surrounded by our closest friends and family.

Best piece of advice to pass onto other couples

Not to build up too much stress as the day just flows, although it does pass very quickly so ensure you spend as much time together to stop and take it all in. The staff at Shottle Hall make the day very easy for you and provide a great service. Also, double check with suppliers are all still on track leading up to the day.
